Ive got an 86 iroc 700r4 carbed 350
how do you know if you need tcc kit and how can i tell if its already been done

 

If you have a T700 trans and no computer then you need some means of controlling the convertor lockup

Should see revs drop slightly when the convertor locks up and revs raise same amount if you accelerate without the trans shifting down.

Are there any wires going to the plug on drv side of trans?
Are they connected to anything?( many rip them out when doing a carb conversion)
Should have 12V on one of them when Ign is on

 

Like stated above easiest way IMO to tell is step on the gas lightly while normal driving and at a low rpm. It should feel a little mushy without lockup depending on your TC flash speed. After my swap the ecm stopped doing lockup like expected. I made a cheap vacuum lockup kit, which is more friendly than the throwing the switch type.

You should check your wiring. You need to figure out if you have a normally open or normally closed solenoid. Another member has a great write up on it.

 

I have an 86 z28,some one butchered it had no idea what they were doin not that i no much more,i just cant pass up on a good deal,i grabbed an 86 iroc tranny from a wrecking yard and put it in there i plugged the stock plug in it i dont no if its workin right or not?

 

get the car up to highway speed... hold the speed steady with your right foot and gently push the brake pedal down just enough to turn on the brake lights.. if the lockup is working, the engine will rev up a few hundred rpm when you tap the brake pedal and go back down when you release it.
