Re: Shift kit
^ I agree.
Slipping means deeper problems (clutch bands).
A shift kit is meant only to be put into a mechanically sound transmission.
Depending on your build you want to do this would be a good time to look at new transmission or a good rebuild kit.

I have an old Probuilt Street/Strip (550 HP & 7,300 RPM limits). It's held up to 7000 RPM shifts fine on the street so far. Dana is a great guy. I'm sure if you call in during business hours he can direct you to the proper rebuild kit (he carries dvds too!) or freshly built one.

As part of a rebuild.
About the stupidest thing you can do, is to try to "mod" on a wore-out major component. Unless of course you just enjoy sitting beside roads waiting on tow trucks.
Re: Shift kit
Depending on what shift the slip occurs, there are things that you can do to extend the transmission life. The oil must be in good shape. You could add the Corvette servo to improve the 2-3 shift at all throttle openings, and firm up 2nd a little. You could add the larger boost valves to help all the shifts. Both can be done with the transmission in the vehicle.
