Hey everyone i noticed on my t5 that the clutch grabs almost at the very top of its pedal travel i was wondering did i mess something up its new (perfection) clutch set from advance auto part if that matters. I remember doing a clutch on my 85 an 86 fiero gt after finishing the clutch grab right at bottom of pedal travel coming up

That's what it's supposed to do.
It'll get worse as time goes on and stuff wears, and the point will get closer to the floor.

I believe it is the opposite. I good clutch will grab low and as it wears it will grab higher.
All clutches are a bit different and one clutch will grab at a different point than another. As long as it is not slipping under heavy load you should be fine.

Yes it is the opposite way im just not liking it grabbing way to high i just decided im gonna replace it with a ram clutch or zoom clutch might be better anyway then a stock replacement since the car came off the road anyway

When a clutch is new, it requires almost full travel of the fork to release it, therefore it "grabs" just off the floor and moves the car. Originally Posted by sofakingdom

When a clutch is worn, it will require minimal pedal travel to release it, and therefore will grab at the way top. Shortly after this it doesn't grab at all, and slips.

can you not bleed the clutch cylinder i remember my civic did that (winterbeater) i bled the clutch and it grabed closer to the floor board
Yea mine grabs all the way at the top i never did try bleeding the clutch slave cylinder ill do that an see if that will make it grab at the bottom of floor hopefully that will fix the problem

No it won't. A hydraulics that are air bound would never release the clutch.. Originally Posted by soarestransam

did you just replace the disc or the pressure plate also? You have symptoms of a weak (worn) pressure plate
