T56 install; 4th gen bracket from catalytic converter to trans work?
Switching from auto to T56, the exhaust bracket from the catalytic converter is different and the 3rd T5 brackets are discontinued. Will the 4th gen bracket work? I've done lots of searches but can't find anything regarding this...

Anyone? I have part of the bracket for the T56 that bolts to the trans...curious if the other part of the bracket that bolts to the converter on the 4th gens will work before I spend $25 on one. With all of the T56 installs, someone's had to have done this or tried it....

I'll put it this way.
I don't think it bolts right up to the stock third gen cat.
Even if it doesn't, driving far enough to get to an exhaust shop without a cat bracket isn't a problem.

I don't have a pic of mine unfortunately; but all I did was take a piece of strip stock, bend & twist it, and U-bolt it to the Y-pipe right immediately behind the cat, to where it stuck right in the 4th gen bracket perfectly.

That's a good idea...my converter has the mount at the rear of it for the factory bracket so I bet I could drill 2 holes in the end to fasten and just twist & bend like u did. The 4th gen setup definitely seems more rigid...

I found a T-5 bracket on here for $25 shipped. However, with the T56, I had to notch the mount at the transmission slightly to clear trans mount and had to marry the T56 tranny side of bracket with the 700R4 exhaust side of bracket as the mounting holes were different at the exhaust. No biggie, cutting wheel to notch and cut off rivets and then slipped in 2 bolts, done!
