Car: 1988 firebird formula 350
Engine: L98
Transmission: 700r4
Axle/Gears: 2.77
do i need a trans??
my stock 700r4 holds shifts until 5300-5500 rpm even when power shifting. it also does not chirp into 2nd anymore. it drastically affects my acceleration. do i need a new trans does my tv cable need to be set?

Sounds like it could be a similar issue to this one and hopefully easy and inexpensive to fix:

As for "even when power shifting," shifts with a 700-R4 don't upshift if the shifter is moved unless the governor has already commanded them hydraulically.

thats not what my trans is doing at all. it provided ZERO help.
