ZF Six Speed

I know they put the corvette ZF six speed trans in the 92 prototype car and they also put it in the third gen that had the LT5 engine. Has anyone done this swap or have info (mainly pictures) and part numbers for the things involved. They use a hydraulic clutch release instead of linkage but I would like to see pictures of it mounted and the other fab work. Thanks in advance guys. Anyone know how much stronger the ZF is than the T56. I know the black label ZF (89-early93) trans is stronger than the blue/green (late 93-96) label.

Re: ZF Six Speed

The Firehawks from SLP had that.

It requires a unique bell housing and some other things.

There were some number in the 20s of them made.

Good luck talking either of the people with a surviving one, into turning loose of it on your behalf.

It is not stronger than the T-56. People tore ALOT of em up in Vettes which is why they quit using em. Worse, it's IMPOSSIBLE to repair; no internal parts are available. GM didn't even service it when new, they just replaced it outright.

All around, not a good candidate for a swap.

Info on swap into a Vette by 3rd Gen member Joe ( Anesthes) , useful as far as flywheels , clutch , etc
http://members.cisdi.com/~anesthes/zf6/

ZFDoc (www.zfdoc.com ) services and supplies ZF6 parts

Problem you will have in a F-Body is the Vette trans has no provision for a reg trans mount so you would have
to custom fab a trans mount and torque arm bracket off the two holes in the tailshaft housing
that holds the Vette C-Beam that connects the trans to diff head and acts as the rear trans support
