Is this a good price for a Ford 9"
My buddy has a Ford 9" out of a 67 ford pickup that had an FE 352 in it. Its the whole rear end drum to drum. One of the brakes is broken but other than that it is fine. He is moving and said I could have it for 75 bucks. I really don't know what its worth. I figured I would go for it to maybe eventually swap in my Camaro. Should I do it??

Sounds about right for a core housing.
Not worth the effort unless you got mad fab skills. If not, your better off buying one already built.

I agree. The reason why it's a lot of work is width, spring perches, control arm brackets, and most of all the torque arm.
I'm guessing it's only a 28 spline. At that point the even the center section isn't really even that desirable to drop into an aftermarket housing axles package kit.

Yup, about right; maybe a bit over-priced.
The good thing about the Frod 9", isn't the Frod 9"; it's all the AFTERMARKET SUPPORT in the shape of pieces that fit that form factor. The Frod 9" is just a typical lame stock POS. Worse than many, maybe even; the ONLY vehicle I've ever seen BURN TO THE GROUND because its rear end caught fire, was a mid-60s Frod truck.
If you want a Frod 9" for your car, buy one for your car. Don't bother with a bunch of old stock junk.

Re: Is this a good price for a Ford 9"
The housing under my car is based off a 9" out of a 1970 F100. The housing is the only thing that's original. Those early 9" housings have a nice small center compared to the later versions. The smaller center is easier to use when it's narrowed.
$75 bucks is a good deal if you plan on putting it under another vehicle that has leaf spring suspension such as a first or second gen f-body. Trying to fabricate something to get it to work under a third gen can become more expensive than buying a 9" housing package designed to fit under a third gen.
It's not just the suspension attachments but the brake system is poor, the bolt pattern for GM rims is wrong, the axles are weak and will need to be replaced. If it has 28 spline axles, I won't even recommend that for a street car. If it has 28 spline axles then the carrier (posi) will need to be upgraded so you can use 31 or 35 spline axles. It probably has 3.00, 3.25 or 3.50 gears which may or may not work for you. In the end, you'll wind up replacing just about everything to get what you want. Why not just start with everything you need.

Re: Is this a good price for a Ford 9"
I figured maybe some time in the future I'd maybe try to swap it in if the 10 bolt breaks. He said he would take 60 for it. Everyone should have a Ford 9" laying around anyhow. Maybe for a future project, or I'll just sell it later on. Thanks for the info, I didn't realize it was such a hard swap.
