700r hangs in 2nd only when warm

88 Camaro V6
Fine when cold will not go out of 2nd when warm

Coworkers car.....was thinking of buying it and he mentioned it.
Not thrilled about the V6 but shoot for 1200 its pretty straight
Thought I may get lucky with a stuck solenoid..

Run or check into it?
If it needs a trans its a no go for me

Well it wouldn't be stuck solenoid since it's a 700r4 being an '88, I think you mean shift valve. It could be something with a piston leaking too. If it has a leak somewhere hydraulically it would most likely leak more as it heats it as the fluid become thinner. Hopefully it's something in the valve body, but hard to say without more info.

Thats about all I got to go on for now.
If its something fiaxable/cheap maybe for the right price.
Dont really want a V6 though we will see.
Thanks for the reply

Re: 700r hangs in 2nd only when warm

When you say hang, do you mean shift flare?
Engine rpm high, with a late maybe slightly slipping at the top of second gear?
If so, it could be a loose band adjustment (wrong servo pin), worn band, or a servo leak.
Pry the outer servo cover in and out a few times. If you have more than 1/8 inch movement, pull the servo apart and assess what you can.
