Depends on how you drive. I wouldn't expect it to hold high rpm clutch dumps. Just get roadside coverage with your insurance. Mine is about $15 extra per month for 3 cars.

Hard to say some people have no issues other blow them with stock engines. The shift into third is a bad thing to miss and they seem to hate shock loads. If you drive fairly normal then no big deal.

Re: will stock t5 hold up?

Yes it will hold up, I've been beating on mine for a long time. And I've got a built 355ci motor in my 89 IROC. Its all in how you drive it... I NEVER dump the clutch, if I want to blow the tires off I just slip the clutch and lay in the throttle. Just have to drive smart and not abuse it.

Re: will stock t5 hold up?

I agree drive smart it won't blow third gear out. I have a s10 with a 350ho crate and t5 3.73 gears and a locker beat it hard and dumped the clutch many times I finally blew third gear out being stupid it's fixed now. But I'm also converting my 91 z28 l98 to a t5 it's cheaper than getting another 700r4 and more fun to drive

ripped my t5 out first pull behind a 355 that was 400ish hp, took off in second gave it some juice, shifted to where 3rd was "supposed" to be and it wasnt there, along with 2nd, all i had was 1st gear 20 miles home at 12mph, it was a trip

You mustve been way lucky! I had mine go out in a stock engine!
Other then that I've noticed they do hold up to 400hp.
On one of my 355 it would shift perfect into.every gear.
No higher then 6500 rpms and I would never dump the clutch.
