Hey guys,

Pulled my 700r4 out of my 92 Firebird today. Putting the TH350 in it tomorrow. I got all the crossmembers and stuff so the trans will fit, its mostly just little tiny things I have questions about.

Speedometer set up
I have the stock electric speedo in my car, is there any sort kit I can buy online to convert the cable driven speedo stuff on the TH350 to work with my stock speedo?

Kickdown cable
Pulled the trans out and took the TV cable off, does the Kickdown cable just route to the same exact thing the TV cable was on? The cable ends are different on the 700r4 and the TH350, so I'm not too sure about this

Vacuum
There is the vacuum fitting on the back of the TH350 that the 700r4 did not have. Where would the best place be to pull vacuum on?

And there is some sort of sensor on the driver side of both transmissions. The one on the 700r4 have 3 wires coming out of it, and the one on the TH350 has 4 wires, can I just plug the old connector onto the TH350?

Sorry if this has been asked a thousand times, I just can't find the answers I need. Thanks for any help.

I think I found the speedo fix.
http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.c...rod/prd126.htm

http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.c...rod/prd620.htm

Those two looks like it will make it work. Still not sure about the other things though, been searching through here and google for a while now and haven't yielded any results.

Going to the TH350 cause my 700r4 blew up on thanksgiving, and decided to put the TH350 in so I don't have to worry about that as much. From what I've read and heard, the TH350 is much more solid than the 700r4

Yeah, it would be nice to have a big write up done and stickied. Thinking about writing one once I get this finished. People keep saying it's a bolt-in swap, but here is little tiny s*** that you don't expect or think about.

Only has to be connected to intake vac , could go to any convenient vac port

Would appear you have a late model TH350C with the lockup convertor.
I would compare wiring diagrams between the 2 setups first before plugging in
Appears the TH350C lockup was wired different to a TH700

10-4, do you do only intown driving? If so you will be fine as far as mileage goes.
Did you have the th350 rebuilt?? or is it used?
The 92 700r4 is a better trans than the earlier 700s.
I'd save it and have it rebuilt with some minor upgrades that will take care of the 700s shortcomings while your messing with the th350.
(just incase you don't like the th350)

Re: 700r4 swap to TH350 questions
IMO a stock 350Th is not a good upgrade over a 700R4. I have had both and I like the 700R4's alot better. I don't have an answer for all your questions but the vac port on top of the 350 is for the vac modulator, that needs to be hooked up to port vac like was said above. The Kick down cable is not needed really and infact most built reman 350TH's do not have a kick down cable-the hole is plugged. Most hot rod guys that run a 350TH do not use a kick down cable as they don't want the trans kicking down on them when not wanted. You just have to down shift yourself.

I had a 350TH in my 72 Nova and could never get the kick down to work right so since I had a B&M shifter in it I would just kick the trans down on my own and it worked much better.

Depends on the application.
Out of the box, the TH350 is stronger and has a more usable 1st gear ratio for the track ; BUT due to no O/d you give up fuel economy over a TH700 if used in a street only car

Re: 700r4 swap to TH350 questions
I am thinking of swapping back to 700r4. Hate to because this TH350 is awesome and shifts nice and hard under a full load. As mentioned already, fuel economy.
