New to this section .... Heard a loud bang and also hear grinding sound when in gear

Hi all
I am new to this section of TGO so please bear with me...i have noticed a grinding sound coming from the rear of the vehicle when the car is in gear ..very noticeable from the passenger seats in back ..

Then last summer I heard a loud BANG coming from the car while driving down a road not doing more than 30 mph.

At first I thought somebody threw a rock at my car, cause it felt like something hit the car.

I got out of the car and inspected for damage....NOTHING. Drove off and the car responded with no issues ..... Other than the old grinding sound...

Car shifts well, so I think the tranny is ok...

As far as I know I have a stock 1984 trans am with the WY-6 no posi option.

What can this issue be?

So should I look into a possible replacement of:

1) pinion bearing?

2) driveshaft ?

3) whatever else ....
