Re: Rear differential leaking
Where is it leaking? Pinion seal? pinion nut/splines? Fill plug? Rear cover gasket? Left or right axle seal ?

Re: Rear differential leaking
I would clean the outside of the differential with some degreaser and check it in a couple of days to see where the leak is comming from.
ALSO!! Don't drive that car if it's low on differential oil! You would be wise to go ahead and top off the oil level so your differential doesn't lock up on you when going down the road.
You will total out your car in a ditch or worse.

Re: Rear differential leaking
There should be a rubber fill plug on the differential cover. If not, then there is a fill plug bolt on the housing.
Add oil until it reaches the bottom of the fill hole and starts to run out.
A complete drain and fill is 3.5 pints of GL-5 gear lube (GM oil), SAE 80W or SAE 80W-90.
If you have a limited slip you will need the additive for that.
I did read somewhere on here that if you use synthetic gear oil you don't need the additive.

Re: Rear differential leaking
Looks like the pinion seal to me. Sometimes it's just a bad seal and sometimes it's a bad bearing. Other times it could just be the nut is backed off. When you get the chance to work on it come back and you can go over all of the options.
