Converting to POSI Unit for $350..?Too good to be true?
Alright so I found a local guy on Craigslist that can come to me and convert by replacing the open carrier and replace it with a posi unit. With him coming to my house to do it he charges me $380...?it seems cheap for me ohh and he also said that eh can install what ever gears I want into it...does this sound right?Let me know thanks!

Read this and see if you think it's worth $300.
Changing gears is a lot more work and requires some more skills. Setting the pinion depth, bearing preload and backlash are not easy and you must be able to read the contact pattern to know what adjustments need to be made to the pinion depth and backlash. Also read this. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tran...axle-gear.html

Guy's price sounds like what he'll charge for labor if you hand him a posi and a car.
Yes buying a whole rear is usually cheeeeper than putting gears and carrier into one. But, Hawk's is A LONG WAY from you; check on shipping before whupping out your credit card. Check all the junkyards, especially the one in Oceanside right off of Mission across from the airport.

Alright so I went to the junkyard today and found a 1994 forth gen camaro with an LT1 in it and wat seems to be a stock POSI rear end in the back...I wanna say its about a 3.42 but anyways it has disk brakes and I am not too sure that if I get this rear end how exactly I convert it to my car since I have stock drum brakes....do I even necessarily have to install them on can I just leave them bee like that for now..?

That's going to have the Auburn differential. Better check it out well before you buy it. If the Auburn is worn out then it will only spin one wheel and you can not rebuild it.

Re: Converting to POSI Unit for $350..?Too good to be true?
My old '95 Z28 convertible had way over 130,000 miles on it, and the stock Auburn still worked very well. A '96 Z28 is 3.42:1 only if it was a T56. Automatics could be either 2.73:1 like mine, or 3.23:1. The easiest way to tell is if the original gauge cluster is still there. If it reads 155 MPH, then 3.23;1. Next clue is the shifter. If you can't manually choose first, then 2.73:1, but it takes maybe 15 minutes with hammer, chisel and screwdrivers to get manual first, and have no visible clues you went in and "fixed" it, so this is no more reliable than the easily-swapped gauge cluster.
