trans question for 89

I "heard" that in looking for a motor and trans for my project 89 iroc, I need ot pay attention to what trans / bell housing I use. can anyone elaborate?

Yup, no V6 trans or LS trans stuff.
I think LS can be used if you have a converter for it.
Also try not 2 use the older 700r4s, I try to only use 88-89 an ups
