To start off this forum before I get chewed out.. I used search lol

I'd like to swap a 460LE Trans I got given to me for doing some yard work, into my 1984 Camaro Z28. It's carbed, current Trans was suppose to be "Brand New" but the previous owners drove the car without Trans Fluid so now she holds gears. How do I swap my 460LE in? I know its electrically controlled.. But my car is carbed? Should I just switch the car to TPI like I planned?

 

You need more then tpi. A suitable computer to control it for starters. You also need to know the yr 4l60e as some electronics changed internally.

 

In short, it's expensive and a royal PITA to get a 4L60E to work in a 3rd gen. My suggestion would be to sell it to someone with a 4th gen and put the money towards a good 700r4.
