85 TH700 torque converter question
I just bought a used trans and it has a B&M torque converter. Im having big problem trying to figure out what type of converter it is, stall speed. I found a stamped number 90077-L and a sticker 8653166 then next to it on same sticker but sideways DE6Y. I call B&M and they said there isnt any identifiers on the torque converter!? So essentially, according to B&M you wont know what you have unless you buy a new one? REALLY?! Is there anyone that might know something "they" dont? I just find it hard to believe! Any help PLEASE

That's the only way you'll know for sure. Unless the guy you bought it from knows. . (which he probably should...)

Is the converter in a running drivable vehicle? If so you can check it.
A "stall test" can be used on many transmissions, if you use this procedure, do not do it for more than five seconds at a time.
Before conducting a stall test, check the fluid level and condition. Chock the wheels and set the parking brake. Start the engine and place the transmission in drive while holding the brake pedal under firm pressure so the vehicle doesn't move. Then push the accelerator to the floor while holding the brakes on. Note the maximum rpm that the engine reaches.
