2- 700r4 trannys

Is there a "better" one in terms of years? I have one from a 1985 Camaro, and one from a 1991 Firebird. Also, i completely deleted the ecm, and wire harness, so i assume using the ALDL for the TCC lockup will not work,,,,correct?
Thank you!

86-93,us considered the years gmt perfected the 700r4. Changes to the valvebody and added splines to input/output shaft from what I can remember.

They were in continuous development thru the 80's, with some major changes in 87. Go with your 91.

The ecm will no longer control the tcc of course, but you should still be able to engage it by grounding the ALCL pin in 4th.

Thanks for the info! So i can go the ALDL route with a switch even though the ecm and wire harness is gone?

So long as the + feed from the brake switch to the tcc, and the return wire from the tcc to the aldl, are still there. Don't know if this is part of the removed ecm harness or not.
