Help with rear end swap

Im new to having a third gen Camaro and I found a nice 92 Z28 with a 5.7 TPI. Well I thought the car had the stock rear end that was a 3.23 so I bought a new rear end to put in the car it is a 410 posi. Well come to find out the rear end was swapped out with a 4th gen rear end and not sure what it is. Is there a reason why someone would have installed a 4th gen in is it better then the third gen. And if so why is it better they both had disc brake set up. So I hope someone can tell me why a 4th gen rear end maybe better than the third gen thanks for any help.

Re: Help with rear end swap

Better brakes, maybe better gears, newer posi.

Allows the use of 4th gen style wheels.

Re: Help with rear end swap

Strength wise, it's the same diff but slightly wider. Normally they're swapped over for a better brake system.
