B&M Megashifter Relay/wiring bypass question

I got a problem (dont we all do).

Im installing a Megashifter. Everthing goes smooth until I crank my IROC. Once I crank the engine, the small white wire in the relay burns out just like a fusible link. This wire is the bridge for the heavy gauge Purple and Yellow wires. The Yellow wire has a 12 volt charge coming from the ignition switch when turned to "Start". The Purple wire goes to the starter. Its obvious to me that this thin wire is not handling the amount of current that is flowing across it. Has anyone had this issue? If so, how did you solve it? The relay is the one that B&M recommends

If you wire the yellow to purple the car would start in gear. Is this using a micro switch to control the relay trigger side ?

Re: B&M Megashifter Relay/wiring bypass question

Yeah. I was thinnking of installing a 4 pin relay between the P/N ECM lead so that once the micro switch recieves current, itll activate a seperate relay that'll handle the higher current. What do you think?

Yeh just use a Bosch 5 wire relay. I have more than a dozen of them and pigtails for sale

In the schematic instead of the ign switch it would be the momentary switch.

But if you wire the park neutral switch to the micro switch and the relay is hot on the trigger side but the micro switch is connecting the path to ground that would solve your issue.

Look at this schematic, the p/n gets grounded

Re: B&M Megashifter Relay/wiring bypass question

Problem solved. I de-soldered the remaining burnt wires with some de-soldering braid and soldered in a thicker gauge wire. Camaro fired up real quick. Next project, install the B&M shifter. If anyone needs this modification done, let me know. I can guide you or help you out.

Or a better way of doing it is to use a second relay.
Ground 85 to the chassis
Wire the blue wire to 86
Wire the green wire to 87
And have a fused power to 30

Haha. I'm out. I'm actually freaking out. I'm working on a laptop as we speak. I updated the bios and the laptop didn't like that. I pretty much made the laptop a brick. Not cool man.
