So i bought this 89 RS Camaro 5speed Stick V6 2.8L and I didn't realize it when I bought it but I am now that I cannot down shift from 4th Gear to 3rd Gear higher than 25mph. It feels like something is blocking my from getting into the gear. I have a small slave leak but I keep up on fluids and it shifts better but the problem still lies. Also when I put it in first then put it in neutral and let the clutch out it makes a constant spinning noise like a plate is grinding up against a wall but nothing serious just makes a noise like that. Not sure whether or not the Trans is going or My clutch is broken. I don't want to drop the money on a clutch and still have the problem. Someone please help.

 

The 3rd gear blocker ring (syncronizer) is messed up. Replacing the ring shlould fix it. Also check the pilot bushing in the end of the crankshaft. If it is worn out it can let the input shaft and main shaft run at an angle and cause problems with the 3rd-4th gear syncronizer.
