no overdrive?

just picked up an 85 berlinetta (second consecutive camaro) and when i first got it (3 weeks ago), it shifted nice and smooth, now it shifts a bit harder and i think i have no O/D. (finding it difficult to count shifts lol) at 70 mph it is running at almost 3000 rpm, my 92 rs ran at 2000 at 75mph. what would cause just the O/D to not work? fluid level is on the high side of good

Re: no overdrive?

Not sure but if the fluid is dark and smells burnt at all the unit has to come out.

Re: no overdrive?

If the converter is not locking up on the highway it will overheat and burn up the trans.
