Here's an odd one. I want to do a Manual to Auto swap.

Basically here is the story. my 1989 iroc was stolen and wrecked, the body is toast but the engine and tranny and everything else is fine. I now have a 1988 Iroc body with no engine or tranny but it was originally a 305 with the t-5. now I need to take my engine and tranny and drop it into this new body in approximately 8 days. I have enough technical knowledge to do it, but i do have a few questions...

1: From what I understand, I need to put the wiring harness from the automatic into the 1988 body i just got, correct?

2: will I have any difficulty mounting the automatic transmission into the 1988 body?

3: will there be any issues getting the automatic wiring harness to fit in the 1988 body?

4: Is there anything else that im not thinking of? I'm pretty sure it will be a fairly straight forward procedure, I'm keeping all the manual parts off of it because i do eventually want to put a T-56 6 speed out of a 4th gen in there some day. any help you guys could give me will be REALLY appreciated.
i'm getting this new body for only 600 bucks, and the body is absolutely beautiful, no dents or any other damage, all the door and panel gaps are perfect and everything, it only has primer on it but that isnt a problem and it actually saves me time....

All wiring will swap. My only question, how to mount your automatic shifter. U usually have to cut that out in an auto to standard swap.

I could probably just weld a plate in there i'm sure. That's another thing i didnt think of though.

Easiest way to go about it, is to cut the trans tunnel out of the one car, and install it in the other. If you look at the way the car is made you'll see that's fairly easy to do.

I'd suggest also swapping the pedals; only takes a few minutes, and makes ALOT more sense than leaving a clutch pedal dangling uselessly in space over there.
