summits ring and pinion set :(
About 3 years ago I put in this set of 3.73 gears from summit I set them up perfect put they were still Ia little but noisy I figured it was just because of the higher ratio until the he other day when I shifted into second at about 4000 and all of a sudden the car sounded like the jetsons mobile good thing I held on to my 2.73s when I pulled the cover off to begin swapping them out this is what I saw ...are these just weak or did I do some thing wrong

If you set lash correctly then there is no reason it shouldn't have gone 100,000 miles like your OE gears.
Had to be a manufacturing defect of some kind.
To avoid this what I plan to do is get a set of used GM "take off" gears.
I am sure you could find a set of original GM take off gears on ebay for cheap.

Re: summits ring and pinion set :(
Your right about that but when I bought the gears some one told me that richmond made the gears for summit ......not so much lol
Re: summits ring and pinion set :(
Richmond might have made them for Summit, but they made them as cheap as possible. Probably short cycled the heat treat process and some of the lapping. Also probably made them from a cheaper metal.
