T5 Fill, Drain plugs, sqaure male?
Hey, this is my first time posting on forums in recent years, and first time on this site, so if I'm doing something wrong, please let me know.
Anyways I'm having a hard time getting the drain plug off of my T5. I looked else where on the internet and it seems a lot of people have square female drain and fill plugs, that u can fit the bare ratchet end in. Problem is, I have MALE square plugs. I used a 5/8th wrench, (later realized i could get away with 1/16 smaller) and got the fill plug off, but the drain wont budge. Any ideas?
Also taking the fill plug out, it was bone dry. I kind of assumed it wouldn't be, is this normal?

Should have fluid in it.
Those plugs go into aluminum; not possible for em to require very much force. Try a longer wrench, to get a bit more leverage. Maybe see if you can find a box end that will fit it since those usually are longer to begin with.
Another trick is to take a MUCH larger box wrench and slip it over the end of the one you're using now.
Next thing is, figure out where the fluid went. If it went where it usually goes, you're already in trouble, even if you fill it back up. (which is not the same as saying "don't fill it"; only, don't think this is the last time you'll be visiting it)

That was a bloody fast reply, thanks for getting back to me so soon. Sadly don't have any boxends, can't even find a bit of 1 inch pipe that fits over the wrench, tried using a hammer pry side on the end of the 9/16s, nothing. Ended up trying to use the floor jack on the wrench, started lifting the entire vehicle off the stand last night. earlier today thought i actually got it, ended up just rounding one of the corners a bit. Also, aren't these supposed to be tightened to only 20ft/lb?

Get 1/2-14 NPT plugs with a 3/8 female square for future serviceability.
