Another Transmission Crossmember Bolt Thread

Today when i was removing the crossmember on the 700R4, i noticed that the passenger side had fine threaded bolts, and the driver side had standard thread. Is this right? I tried looking for the bolts on the AC Delco web page but nothing came up. Help Please!

Re: Another Transmission Crossmember Bolt Thread

They were metric, originally; 10mm (the size that has 15mm heads), whatever the std thread is for that size, 1.5mm I think.

Sounds like you've got the same thing going on that about everybody does: the lame chinesium nut-shaped object in the little weenie cage that the factory used, failed at some point; and somebody applied some sort of alternate ethnic engineering to it.

Best thing to do it to take about a 1½" hole saw to the floor right above them; get rid of all the stupid factory one-time-use-only crap; tack-weld a couple of actual NUTS there; and put plastic hole plugs back in the floor under the carpet.
