4 speed swap question

I have an 89 iroc with 335 stroker kit and 700r4. My question is will a 4 speed out of an 82z28 work with my engine in 89. Being a stroker the flexplate is balanced. Would a flywheel need to be different because of balance and possibly cause of newer crankshaft?

If the block is from 89 then you would need the flywheel for an engine with a one piece rear seal. if the block is a two piece rear seal you need a flywheel for that type of engine. The other thing you need to know is if the crank shaft is internally balanced or externally balanced, This will tell you exactly what flywheel you need.

and hopefully the machine shop didn't do any grinding on the flexplate when they balanced the rotating assembly of the engine. if not, you could just bolt on the proper flywheel for the crankshaft and throw it together.. if they did grind on the flexplate, then you'd have to take that and the new flywheel to a machine shop for them to match the balance of the flywheel to your old flexplate.
