What starter do I use

Hello everyone. I have a 92 RS that has a motor and trams swap. I have a 350 with a staggered starter bolt pattern ( pre-85). The T5 is out of a 85 Camaro. I did get the bell housing and flywheel with it. None of the local parts stores can seem to help find the right starter I need. Has anyone else had this same sort of issue?

Re: What starter do I use

Get the long & short starter bolts for a 92 RS (You have two long ones now.) These are specific because they are knurled. Don't get "generic" bolts.

Your block will need a third bolt hole
- located (use a 92 RS starter to locate the hole properly, it's NOT in-line with the other inner hole; see the picture in the below thread)
- drilled (to 5/16")
- tapped (to 3/8-16")
- and counterbored to the same i.d. as the other two holes. (see the picture in the below thread)

There are bigger (used on L98 F-bodies) starters that don't fit the T5 bellhousing well. The 305 starter fits. The 93-97 LT1 starter fits. Early 90s Vette starters fit.

Now wade past the crap, read this entire thread and you'll have it all figured out:
