Options on a 200r vs 700r4
I just have a few questions and though it would be a good discussion.
Read the sig about my car. Its not the fastest but I've went though 2 stock transmissions so far. I had a vette servo, larger int. and boost valve, and trans go re programmer kit. In the end the trans only makes it for about 3/4 of a season and starts slipping worse and worse. I closely monitor trans temps and with the cooler I have never ran into a problem.
I was going to do a TH350 swap but never wanted to loose my OD transmission because of the highway driving that I take to the track.
This is a V6 car so the transmission is a narrow 700r4 at this time.
I am just curious if anyone had done a 200r swap into a V6 or if using a probuilt rebuild on the current 700r4 would be worth it in the long run as it wouldn't require fabrication. Money isn't a huge factor although spending over 1k on a trans is just not available at this point in time. Im not looking for a trans set up that will handle 600+hp just one that can take a 350-400Hp crank turboed engine. I know a great set up isn't cheep but I just want to get a idea.
I've done all my tuning and modifications on my car on my own with some advice and help from these boards. So I am ok with working on and modiflying cars. But how difficult is it to do a rebuild on a transmission?
Thanks for any tips, advice, and so forth.

First question is if you can make use of the much taller 1st gear ratio of the 200R4 ?
200R4 was stock in the TTA (Turbo Trans Am ) the one with the 3.8 turbo from the Buick GN.

Re: Options on a 200r vs 700r4
I could use the taller gear in the 200. But the problem I have currently in the 700 is that there is such a huge gap between 1-2 shifts. Thankfully at this time my turbo set up has very little lag at the race track. Im not sure how much that would change with the taller gearing but I do have the capibilities of running my 2 step as a anti lag. I just never did it as I could make and hold boost at the starting line @2800 rpms with just a foot brake.
Another problem with the current transmission is the options for tq converters. There is no off the shelf TQ converter at this point. Depending on the options for the tranny and which one i stick with, i could just have a custom stall on the 700r4.
Yes the 200 came in TTAs. The problem that im still researching is the bolt pattern on the belt housing to the engine and so forth. Its pretty rare for anyone to do this sort of mod on a 60* V6 camaro so im struggling with information at this point.

The bellhousing pattern is different between the 60 V6 and the dual (BOP / Chevy) so you have that to deal with. The converters are 27 spline like an early 700.
