T5 Hydraulics Question

Does anyone know where I can get the stock hydraulics for the T5 BESIDES Hawks? They have it listed (Whole unit, master, slave, and resivour) at $219, I'm looking for something cheaper. Everywhere else either tells me that they're discontinued or that I need to buy everything as seperate pieces, which I dont want to do.

...This morning during my T5 conversion (got all parts from hawks), the slave cylinder decided to blow apart with the first actuation of the pedal. The retaining ring/clip groove was broken which caused it all to fall apart. I'm $8k into this engine/trans swap and I dont have much money.

Thanks for the help.

Re: T5 Hydraulics Question

That price doesn't seem to bad, The last time I bought one it came from GM.

Hawks should send you a replacement if the first one was defective, Are you sure it was in there right and wasn't a mistake on your part?

You need to get in touch with them and get a replacement coming, should be on their dime.

Re: T5 Hydraulics Question

I found one a brand new AC Delco one with braided lines and all for $125. And no it was not my fault. it wasnt even installed yet, the slave was just hanging there. We had to push the pedal forward to put the retaining clip on and that little bit of pedal movement blew the slave apart. Upon further inspection there was a crack in the housing where the retaining ring sits. I never talked to hawks because they clearly stated that when the conversion kit comes, you must check for damage before paying the freight company for shipping. Unfortunatley no one would have noticed that hairline crack, but it was a used piece and i did pay for the shipping after not finding damage.

Getting the updated, pre-bled, brand new one for $125 was definetly the best way to go. I just cant belive hawks lists them for $220. The part number for the new one is 174-1072. Like i said, comes with a new pedal bushing and stainless braided lines that SCREW IN, no roll pins to knock out.

That is what I paid for my GM One over ten years ago.
