84 Transam axle upgrade questions
Question, I have been searching but cant quite find the answer I have an 84 transam with an open 3.23 26 spline disk brak diff, I feel the need for posi and have settled on a Detroit truetrack in 28 spline.
Question is whhat vehicles can I scavenge axles from at the wreckers that will work for me and my old disk brake car? can I use 4th gen stuff? astros and s10's? or will the axle widths be different?
I figured there would be a simple anser, but I cant find the info!!

They are getting pretty scarce in the yards up here, so maybe I need a set of axles as well then, any basic ones that arent $400 a piece from summit you's recommend?

Now, I would find a set of 28 spline axles from a 90-92 F-body. Then, a differential from any Fbody will work as they all will fit all the way through 2002.
I have an 84, I bought 28 spline axles from Jegs and picked up a Zexel Torsen differential from a 2002 SS Camaro. It's run fine for me for the past 4 years.
