!Help! Vibration after T5 swap.

Hey guys. I need a little help brainstorming this.

I just finished putting in a T5 w/ an Exedy clutch and flywheel in my 1990 L03 and I'm plagued with a constant, consistent vibration.

The flywheel is: FWGM13 16lb Flywheel for a one piece rear.
The clutch is: 04053 Exedy stock clutck kit
The transmission is: 1989 WC T5 w/73,000 miles.

The car standing still in neutral will vibrate slightly at idle and shake through the whole rpm range. Clutch in or out does not effect anything.

The car under load and in motion will vibrate slightly at idle and shake through the whole rpm range no matter which gear your in. The severity of the vibration SEEMS to be less severe if I'm going up hill with a decent amount of throttle.

It almost feels like a miss but w/ new plugs and plug wires I'm hard pressed to find anything obviously ignition related. The engine ran smoothly before the swap.

It almost sounds like a miss, but I can't tell if I'm down on power.

Ideas? Thanks guys.

Assuming it didn't vibrate before;

The only parts that are locked to the engine that could affect balance are the flywheel and pressure plate.

So, pull the pressure plate & disc. Problem solved? get a diff clutch.
If not, bolt your old flexplate on and start it. Problem solved? Return the flywheel; get a difference one.

Sanity check "just to be sure": Take the old flexplate that was fine and the new flywheel to a machine shop; ask how different they are in balanc.e

Did you hit the dist cap on the firewall when swapping the trans ? If not follow the above diagnostic suggestions.

Took the cap off during the swap, but I did have to drop the transmission a second time to bang in the pilot bearing a bit more but my mount are able to hold the motor up pretty well. I felt the back of the cap while the engine was running believing that might be a cause and it didn't arch into my hand so I figured it was crackfree.

Looks like I'm pulling the transmission down again and pulling the clutch off, spin the engine with a just the flywheel this coming week.

Thanks for the replies so far guys. Helping me brain storm this is half the battle.

Re: !Help! Vibration after T5 swap.

Update:

Swapped out the ignition cap and rotor with a new set that helped quite a bit but would still shake like mad at idle and full throttle. Pulled the transmission and ran just the flywheel. It was smooth (Well as smooth as a 150K oil soaked LO3 can be), put the Pressure plate back on and it shook like mad. Turned the Pressure plate 120 degrees (two bolt holes CW) and it ran smooth.

I won't know 100% till everything is back together and I'm puttering down the road but I think its been nipped in the bud.

Thanks jmd and Zed.

Edit: Other than some clutch chatter it drives fine now.

Re: !Help! Vibration after T5 swap.

I just bought a 86 camaro the prior owner rebuilt the 2.8 and the tranny I have the paper work.
But when I start it it vibrates severely? Shifting gears it vibrates bad the swapped out the auto and put a 5 speed in her.. But I dont know why its vibrating so bad the whole car shakes I'm afraid to drive it. What could be causing this.. He said all ne clutch flywheel and throwout bearing? Vibrates when it starts not to bad at an idle but any touch of the throttle it just severely vibrates?

86 2.8 camaro 5 speed vibrates bad feels like tranny now they swapped the automatic to a 5 speed.. Why is it vibrating less at an idle but severely any shift or really bad when I hit the gas?
