Grinding in first!

Hello, I have an 87 GTA with a 700r4. I just had it rebuilt last week, I just installed it today and when it's in drive everything works fine, but when I pull the shifter all the way down to first it starts grinding pretty violently. However, when I hold the shifter just between 1 and 2 it stays in first and works right.... So I was thinking maybe I need to just readjust my linkage? Or does that sound like a deeper problem?? thanks guys

Re: Grinding in first!

Cable probably needs adjusted.

Make sure you adjust your TV cable properly as well or you'll be needed another rebuild soon.
