One tire fire posi?

I installed a 4th gen 1995 z28 differential (i was told thats what the diff came off of) on my 1992 Firebird. It has disk brakes (which is why I believed further it was from a z28). Upon a nasty burnout , I realized my driver side tire wasnt spinning, I also heard a slight whine, maybe normal, maybe not. Doesnt make any noises while driving normal. I heard the clutch pad or pads could be worn, but I haven't heard of clutch pads in these diffs. I figured it could also be a v6 diff. Could someone tell me some probable causes for a posi rear to act as an open diff? Thaaaank!!

I'm pretty sure I got jipped, but it's cool. 9" Ford time. Could someone shed some light on the pads, whether or not they have them and whether or not they are serviceable?

Nothing to do but open it up and take it from there. What is it really? 9-bolt? 10-bolt? Open diff? Worn LSD? Got to see inside.

If it's from a '95 and it did have a "posi" then it would have been the Auburn. These have cones in them, and they do wear out. When they wear out they are scrap metal. You can not rebuild them and the more they wear the weaker they get. Also, as they wear they allow the axle end play to increase, which is a bad thing with disc brakes. If this is the case with your rear end then I recommend replacing it as soon as possible with a Eaton Posi, Eaton Truetrac or Torsen differential.
