T-5 5th Gear Assembly

Hello,

I bought a used t-5 that needed the 5th hear replaced. The original owner had a box full of parts and some t-5 cores and already had the 5th gear town down before he became cash strapped and decided to sell it off. The transmission itself is out of an '89 v8 fire-bird.

Right now I am trying to re-assemble the 5th gear assembly. I have downloaded the t-5 repair manual and watched several youtube videos. I took a picture and just wanted to make sure that everything I need is here:

Most of all I want to make sure I have the right locking rings for the 5th gear and the mainshaft 5th gear.

My second question is about the 5th gear itself. The original owner included two 5th gears.

The one on the right is the one I am planning on putting back in the transmission it is part number 13-52-080-969.

The one on the left is 13-52-080-987. While the main-shaft gear matches up with it, i has an extra collar on the gear itself (as seen in the picture) and I dont know if it will work with my transmission.

Thanks!

My current locking is on top of the gear in the picture, however, after looking at that link I think I will go ahead and buy a new one. As cheap as it is, it looks like it could keep me from having a lot of trouble.

Also, not sure what you meant by the gear height post. That post talks about he height of the mainshaft drive gear, not the 5th hear height itself. From reading that post it looks like my 5th gear drive gear is good. Correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks,

Han
