Auto to manual
Auto to manual
Getting everything ready to a full LSX swap and auto to manual conversion and wondering if you guys would rather use the 3rd gen pedal assembly or the 4th gen when using a T56 trans? I've read mixed reviews on both for ease of install and just wanted to get your thoughts on it. Thanks
Re: Auto to manual
I registered for this message board in hopes to get information from other 3rd gen owners and so far none of you have helped me out. A message board is here so people can gather information and get the help they need from other members. A forum only survives if people are actively on it. Who cares if an answer is hurried in the archives somewhere? All things that could be done to these cars has already been done somewhere and its in some forum archive somewhere, but talking with somebody step by step is so much better IMHO and people get mad if you bring up threads from years ago. Its dumb as **** IMO and I believe that we should all be actively supporting other members of this board in any way we can. I was going to have you guys help me through a mid 5 digit build on my car and I know most would have loved seeing such a high dollar build, but if you guys can't even help me with some of the smaller aspects I'm not even going to contribute here. Thanks to Hawks I got all the info I needed.

Re: Auto to manual
Something to think about is that new forums can get buried just as easily as old ones, probably what happened here. Case-in-point: I just saw this for the first time and I typically click the "new posts" button everytime I'm on here.
I'd personally vote for the 4th generation pedals as that is what most people use, I myself have a TH350 that is far from dying. MAYBE when it does I'd think about a manual swap, but yeah.
Sorry you didn't get a quick answer (and I'm not counting mine as an answer either). Hawk's is a good resource.

Re: Auto to manual
The fouth gen pedals go in with only minor modifications. You'll have to cut the gas pedal off and widen some holes for the MC. Pretty minor compared to the overall job.
The fourth gen neutral switch is, however, a low voltage unit designed to work through a relay with the anti theft system. I don't think the third gen switch, which is heavier duty, will connect to the fourth gen pedals. I've not tried myself, I intend to use the fourth gen switch through a relay mounted in the console which will keep me from having to extend the heavier guage wires that went to the park/neutral switch (or pull them out of the harness).

Re: Auto to manual
I prefer 4th gen pedals to use with a 4th gen master. Only issue it the top bolt
4th gen pedals have two switches on the clutch. One is the neutral safety switch for the starter. It retains the 12ga wire similar to 3rd gens. It also has a smaller switch for the PCM/cruise

Re: Auto to manual
I started out with 4th gen pedals with my swap, but they kept making my master leak inside the car from firewall flex. Switched to 3rd gen pedals and its been great so far. Even though, I've still seen a lot of people run 4th gen pedals with no issue. May of just been the position i cut the hole for the master.

Re: Auto to manual
Thanks for the input guys! I did read the lsx swap guide, but it still didn't completely answer my question. After talking with Hawks I've come to the conclusion of using 3rd gen pedal assembly with their adjustable clutch master. He said he will build it however I want it so it'll work great and include everything I need to link it up with the Tick Level 5 TR6060. I think this is gonna work out great! Hawks is damn near a one stop shop!
