Need some advice on Th350

Hello
Ive been searching the board for a few weeks now and I am getting ready to do the th350 swap to my 305. I was just wondering if I would need the crossmember that relocates the torque arm? The car came with a 305 and a 200c transmission. The previous owner had a summit crate motor with a 700r4. I am still confused what th350 I need the 9IN truck th350 or the one that came in cars the "short tail"?
Thanks

Do us a favor and go to your user CP and add your car info for future use.....

As for the cross member, If it has the 700R4 cross member now there are swap members available for the TH350 which also has the torque arm mount bracket made on it. That's the best way to go, To run your existing drive shaft you need the 9" tail shaft commonly found in trucks......

Are you using the stock torque arm ?
Read what it says in the description

This is the crossmember only for those who do not require torque arm provisions (ie. 4 link and ladder bar set-ups).

This transmission cross-member with integrated torque arm mount features the correct provisions for mounting the TH350 transmission
while still allowing the use of a factory style torque arm.

Re: Need some advice on Th350

if your handy with welding and fabricating, you can make your own torque arm mount.

another option might be the jegs arm or something similar?

it might sound silly but when i do drivetrain swaps, i like to measure/draw everything right on the ground next to the vehicle with chalk. it gives me a rough idea of whats going on.

FWIW, i was able to use my factory crossmember when i did the th350 swap. just had to wollow out a few mounting holes. i did use the 9" version tranny.

Re: Need some advice on Th350

I might be picking up a TH-375 tomorrow out of a 2nd gen trans am. Could I still use my stock cross member?
Thanks

i'm no expert, but i believe the th375 is very similar to a th400. if you had the crossmember from the 200r4, sure it would probably fit.
but if your using a crossmember for a 700r4 now, no way.
the th375 is gonna require a much shorter driveshaft too.

heres a chart with dimensions in this link;

Re: Need some advice on Th350

I will just stick with the th-350. So I wont have to get a new drive shaft. I am trying to keep the costs low.

Re: Need some advice on Th350

I traded some Parts for a rebuilt th-375. Will I have to cut the drive shaft? Ive seen on some forums that a th-375 is the same length as th350.

did you or can you measure the th375 for over-all length, and post the measurement?
