ls1 t56 speedometers

I want the most simplest way to hook up a speedo. I want to know is there any direct hookup speedos. I'm using aftermarket gauges so stock is not a option. 87 IROC

I have the autometer speedo gauge, two wire hookup

Is your aftermarket speedo electric or cable drive?

What trans, ECM/PCM and gauge (mech or electric) are you using?

Title sounds like a LS1/T56 swap while your info says you've got a TPI small block with an automatic through a cable driven 87 camaro speedo

Yes my car is a tpi car but I just yanked everything out. I have a lq4 and on the market for a ls1 t56. I dont have a speedo yet but I would like to get some pn on what to get. Right now I have a few equus gauges calm down they were free brand new lol

No pcm yet. Car was cable driven but I will delete all that

Ok, if using a LS1/T56 combo, leave the stock 17PPR VSS on the T56 along with its two wires. The PCM decodes this to output the common 4,000PPM signal used by GM and most aftermarket electric gauges

To use a cable speedo like factory, get a driver box such as Cable-X. It takes the 4,000PPM from the PCM, plus 12v and grd to drive a short cable to the gauge

If going to an aftermarket electric, check the signal its expecting. Often, they can be wired directly from the PCM output

Or you could have the tail housing modified for a cable drive and forget the Cable-X gizmo.
