Loud slam!

I have a 92 Camaro RS tbi 5.0, 5 speed. I am trying to figure out the name of the part that connects the trans and rear end? Its a long rectangular flat rod and sometimes when I let go of the clutch, it slams against the floor board, when ever i brake slightly hard, it scrapes against the ground (Seen scrape marks). Theres a piece or bracket that mounts on the side of the trans. to hold that rod (In photo) I need to name, locate and price this part because it seems to be missing the clamp.

Re: Loud slam!

It's called a torque arm Ben,the piece that connects to the trans/crossmember mount is a torque arm or bracket.

Re: Loud slam!

The long piece is the torque arm; the piece you need to get BEFORE you EVER drive the car again, is the torque arm bracket. You can get yourself SERIOUSLY hurt with that thing not anchored in place. AFAIK you'll pretty much have to find it at a junkyard or on the classifieds on this site; AFAIK it is long since discontinued at the GM store. But I could be wrong, wouldn't hurt to check.

Yes the manual tranny brackets can be hard to find. The rubber bushing is available, but not the metal bracket. You can't use a bracket for an auto tranny.
