Clutch Recommendations
Clutch Recommendations
Hello Guys,,
Recently converted my L98 to a T-56 , using 4th gen pedals and t-56 from a 95 camaro.
I used a "Competition Clutch" stage 3. The engagement point is horrible. I have to ride the clutch to hell just to get the car to move from a dead stop.
I thinking of swapping out the clutch to a:
McLeod Super StreetPro Clutch Kits 75216

What do you guys think? Any suggestions?

More likely, the problem is that you have 2.7x gears in the rear; which makes it about like what taking off in 3rd would be like, in a car that has more appropriate gearing.
Re: Clutch Recommendations
Not completely sure what this means; but most likely, if it means what I'm suspecting it might but can't be certain, you can change the clutch every day and twice on Sundays just for good measure, and it won't affect it in the least.

That's what I thought too, so I put 3.90's in the rear. It got a little better but all in all the still the same issue. It's almost impossible to get a smooth engagement going.
The McLeod Clutch has 2 different surfaces on it. Kevlar Pucks on Fly wheel side and what looks to be stock clutch material on the pressure plate side. Hope that will eliminate some of the clutch chatter I get from the Competition Clutch.
Another question, Right now I run the stock Fly wheel from a 95 Lt1, would I gain anything by switching to RAM Billet Aluminum Flywheel?

Looks pretty expensive, are these worth it? or should I just cut the stock flywheel again.
Re: Clutch Recommendations
just run the stock flywheel with a less aggressive clutch. twin disk is great, but very pricey. how much power is the car making and what are you doing with it?

Re: Clutch Recommendations
Is it possible that the engagement of the clutch is set up improperly? If this is the case, it would happen with any clutch you use.
If I'm wrong, and you do need a new clutch, I've heard good things about Monster clutches, though I've never used one myself.
