Want to go standard

I have an 82 berlinetta that currently has a 700r4 and I want to put a standard in. I did the research finding out that none of the 3rd gen berlinettas came with a standard. I just wanna figure out what I need to do and how to do it all. Especially since my 700r4 is burned up. Should I do t5 or t56? How much work will have to be done? How much could this run me? Should I just pay for a rebuild on the auto?

Re: Want to go standard

Rebuild the auto is cheapest. $500 to $1000 depending on parts needed, and how much HP it needs to live behind.

T5 is cheaper to acquire than T56. T5, you might get away at/under $1000. T56 when you're all-in is more like $2500. Bro deals, killer trades and sweet junkyard finds could reduce the price.

Automatic to manual (standard), whether T5 or T56 requires the following: You will need trans, shifter, crossmember, torque arm mount, bell, flywheel (2 piece RMS), clutch & pressure plate, fork, throw out bearing, linkage, pedals. Best to update to 85+ hydraulics. You will also need to modify wiring. Cut hole in tunnel for shifter. Cut hole in firewall for linkage.

We'll I'm not computer controlled or anything and a local salvage yard I can get a trans with warranty for like $76 before tax so I'd only have to get linkages and clutch and flywheel but not sure how much everything else will run me
