I doubt that the rear end you have will make it very long. I would guess that the first time you put sticky tires on it and dump the clutch it will probably bust. A after market 12 bolt or 9 inch would be the way to go. Moser, Strange and some others make bolt in rear ends for your car.

Re: Diff upgrades or do i need new?

I built a 10 bolt with some nice aftermarket parts.
That's worked out ok for a DD, automatic with street tires.
It cost me around 1,500.00 to do.

Don't waste your time or money on a 10 bolt upgrade with what you’re doing.
Defiantly a 9" or 12 bolt.

big gear head knows what he's talking about. Very experienced and Knowledgeable .

I just thought I would post a photo or two so you can get an idea why the 9" is preferred over the GM 7.5/7.65 Ring and Pinion for certain applications.

Some of the guys here can explain what’s needed and what is the least expensive way of putting together the parts necessary for the 9"

I say 9" over the 12 bolt because that seems to be the preferred choice here.

Just for kicks and giggles I have included my 10 bolt build.
It’s worked well for me but it’s my DD,5.0,auto,with street tires so its all I need.
