T-5 shifter

I'm curious about something. I've currently got a B&M short throw shifter on my T-5 and I HATE it. I don't want to go back to stock. I'm having 2 issues with it... Noise and grinding into 3/4 and I just hate the throw. I am interested in a shifter with throw about halfway between the B&M and stock. Is there one for our F-bodies out there that is adjustable, or is there a way to modify the one I have?

Re: T-5 shifter

A longer stick will make the throw longer.

A shorter stick on the stock shifter will make the throw shorter.

The only other way to modify the length of the throw is to change the distance between the pivot ball and the ball and socket on the bottom of the shifter, and that isn't easy.

Re: T-5 shifter

No adjustable that I'm aware of. {insert disclaimer here}

A shifter isn't likely to fix "grinding". Not in a rail shifter trans. You've got bigger problems there, than a shifter.

I have a Hurst Comp Plus in mine. Put it in in about 85. Right after I busted my knuckles on the radio AGAIN and said several bad words and swore this was THE LAST time. Was pretty cheeeep at the time; less than 1 large; can't say how it is now. Might want to look at those.

Re: T-5 shifter

Well, you see, this trans has less than 600 miles on it since a full rebuild and the only difference from before, other than not having broken synchro parts (couldn't swear to it but I think it was the 3/4 that had the broken spring), is the shifter. It didn't do this before, and it's running the same ATF I've always put in it. My last rebuilt T-5 didn't do this either (that one was junked because of a bad case leaking trans lube). At least it's not jamming in 3rd now. Unless it maybe has something to do with the close proximity of the slave cylinder to my header on that side (even though it is wrapped in heat wrap?).

I almost want to put a stock shifter back on, but I want a SHORTER stick than that AND a shorter throw (by about half in throw and at least an inch shorter in length). And to keep the stock-ish shift ball. Oh, and let's not forget to mention that I had 2 stock shifters (one on the junked 84 trans and the other from the 85 I'm still using) and one literally snapped off on me right above the hex part of the shaft (yeah, that day was fun even if it was only 3 miles home from the hardware store), which I would rather avoid happening again.

And why is it that a Rustang shifter is like $35 or so when ours are almost the exact same with one single bend in it and it gets marked up $120?
