Need 700r4 to shift higher

put my new engine in and it shifts way to early for the cam under WOT. I'm looking for 5,800 to 6,100 shift points for this 700R4 instead of the 4,900-5,100 that I'm at currently. What works the best? I'm sure I'm not the first to do this. What weight spring combo for the governor have you used to achieve this? 3.23 posi with a relatively low convertor(2200)

Nobody have anything to say? I'm not looking for "Search" as a response. Between working full-time, school full-time I have very little time to research.

Re: Need 700r4 to shift higher

It's more of a trial and error deal when changing springs and weights. I do recall having to make fairly drastic changes in the governor to make decent rpm increments.

Sorry but with TPI, you won't benefit raising them that much, if at all. Don't blame the power band on the trans.

I haven't updated my sig yet. Stealth Ram 355, not just a stock TPI

Re: Need 700r4 to shift higher

clip one coil at a time off of each of the springs that are already in your governor and try that.

Re: Need 700r4 to shift higher

The best way to do this is to get a HI-RPM Corvette valve body and the matching governor. They have apx. a 6,000 rpm WOT shift point. The higher horsepower Z28 valve body and matching governor setup has apx. 5,500 rpm WOT shift point. The other option is to install the TransGo 700-2-3 Performance Shift kit, it will give you the ability to hold any gear to any rpm when manually shifting it.
