T5 Clutch/Flywheel size?
I'm thinking about using a 3rd gen F body T5 bellhousing, (in a non f body), and was wondering if it will accept a 168 tooth flywheel. (I'm guessing not)
Also, same basic question about the clutch, what will fit? 10.5", 11". or 12"?
(I'm sure a 12" won't fit, but I gotta ask.... LOL)

Well that confirms what I thought anyway. I'll look into the 88 vette clutch for sure. I was hoping for a 11" clutch at least, but 10.75" sounds a little better than a 10.5". Lol

I was actually just reading about that setup this morning. I'll be looking into that pressure plate for sure. Not sold on the DF discs though. I'd rather stick with a stock style disc if I can.

I always get a kick out of HP ratings on a clutch. That part makes no difference to me. I'd much rather see a torque/traction/heat rating. 500 HP is easy to hold with no traction.

Oh I know McLeod is a good clutch/brand. I have no doubt about that. It's just the HP rating thing I was commenting on. HP means nothing without traction, but yet ya never see any mention of how many ft lbs of torque you can put to the ground. Heat kills most clutch discs, not hp.

Yea, the extra 1/2" is good. I may go ahead and try it, but I want to do a little measuring first. Lol
What's a Astro A5?
I'm using a T56, but I want to get away from the junk LT1 style clutch and also the LS style internal hydro throwout bearing.

A company that makes gears and components for the T5.
It is not GForce, they have their own better gears...
The top one is 575 Torque/650HP A-5 Transmission.
I only found about 2 members here that have it, very popular in the Mustang Camp, and any other T5 users that want more power..
It's about 3lbs more than the stock T5...
I did tons of research and found very few problems, one was from the owner himself, some car making over 500 hp, they replaced the mainshft to an upgraded one he sells and it fixed the problem... I've read about a lot of problems with the Gforce Stuff... Many people running in the 10's with Astro and slicks, no problems...
There is a thread here on TGO, old, but it has some neat info...

Re: T5 Clutch/Flywheel size?
Old post, but I thought I'd update, (and ask another question... lol).
I got a 153 tooth flywheel, and went with the 88 Vette clutch. Also got the McLeod t56 adapter.
Now my question is, does anybody have a part number, or a pic of a T5 clutch release fork? I've had the bellhousing for years, but when I dug it out I found I have no clutch fork with it.
I've got a few forks for chevy truck NV3500 transmissions and probably a few others laying around but haven't had a chance to dig that far yet. I'm guessing the NV3500 fork is different?
