Few weeks ago this started happening. Cold starts it revs louds then slows, almost like it's breathing in deep and exhaling. If I put it in drive it will die almost immediately if I don't let it breathe like 4-6x, takes about a minute. If I put it in overdrive though, it will just never move. At all. It will move in D and go just fine, after It gets around temp I can shift into overdrive there are also sometimes a loud bang if I accelerate too quickly from a stoplight.

does this sound like transmission? something else? something easy. As always all help is appreciated from you guys. Thanks.

Oh, it's a 92 Automatic

 

Possibly a failed converter but probably damage in the transmission. Drop the pan and see it there are any hard parts in it.

 

I get exhaust fumes i. The cabin while at idle at stops lights if that helps any?

 

Take it to a repair shop and have it fixed
