mega shifter diy help
so i picked up a mega shifter from a swap meet for 30 bucks (just needs a good oiling. ) anyway its just the shifter no linkage no selector nothing. now i really don't want to tear up my stock console installing the thing. so here is my question is there any way to drop in the shifter and go. like use all the stock mounts that are there i.e gear selector and the tranny shift cable etc.
if it is totally impossible is there any website i can buy just the parts kit minus the shifter. ive poked around online but and found the parts but not the whole kit and d rather not have to buy the parts one by one.

Re: mega shifter diy help
Look and see if the shifter you bought has a part number on it. IIRC the one for Thirdgens is 80692 but you'll have to verify that. After you have the correct part number for the shifter, you can download the PDF manual and see what individual part numbers are missing on yours, and then see if what you need is available.
Example sources for part number 80692:

No you can't install with factory GM parts... No you don't cut up your car to do it. The only cutting is to the factory plastic shifter plate.
Yes you can buy all the parts, but you will spend 4 or 5 times more on the parts than you paid for the shifter.
Cable $52 http://www.summitracing.com/parts/bmm-80605
Trans shift arm, and cable bracket $26 http://www.summitracing.com/parts/bmm-35498
Mirco switch for backup lights and Neutral safety $10 http://www.summitracing.com/parts/bmm-80629
Indicator Window $11 http://www.summitracing.com/parts/bmm-80696
Shifter boot $22 http://www.summitracing.com/parts/bmm-80668
cover plate $14 http://www.summitracing.com/parts/bmm-80820/overview/
Shifter Indicator Window Cable $18 http://www.summitracing.com/parts/bmm-80815/overview/
That's most if not all of the parts. That's about $150 worth of parts
