New trans is in! But TV cable "set" question...not sure if I got it right or not.

So I was finally able to replace my factory 84 trans with a 700R4 from an 88 built using a Road race Kit from Dana at Pro-Built. Included was Vigilante 2800 stall. Talk about a massive difference!

My car. 84 TA with 355 and CC Qjet. 3.73 gears.

The biggest difference I noticed right off is that I only lose 100-200rpm from park to drive instead of 400-500.

Then driving around my car stays north of 2000 rpm's any time I have throttle and I"m under 40mph. It used to drop into OD at 30 and 1500 RPMs and I would lug around with difficulty. Now the OD wont kick in until 45-50mph.

When I get on it, I can tell it shifts, but it doesn't "Bang" the gears, the shifts are surprisingly smooth. Feels more like I'm riding the clutch a tad at times than bang-shifting.

I can smoke the tires from a standing go. I couldn't do that with my old trans.

The old one would "Chirp" into second, this one is much more smooth.

I also don't get any

Almost all of my off-idle stutter/bogging issue has vanished.

I'm really not used to how it shifts now and part of that is I guess from how the trans slips more now due to the higher stall converter.

Can anyone with a higher stall converter let me know if this is mostly normal?

My next to last concern I have is when I tried to set the TV cable, I was able to push the detent all the way in, but when I rotated the throttle, I never got a ratcheting motion, I got one "THUNK" and the whole thing popped all the way out. That said, it's tight at WOT, so that's good, but it's seems to be either "In" or "out".

The reason I'm concerned a bit is easing it out of the drive way and up the road, when I speed up it revs up and acts like it's shifting, but the car seems to "nose over" for lack of a better term. I think it's actually the shift, but the RPM's stay up...around 2000. It's really a wierd feeling. Also, it seems to hunt a bit in gear when driving at low speeds. Perhaps this is a mechanism of the higher stall and trans slippage, I don't know. It just doesn't feel really steady.
