T5, 700R4 and steering columns
On our 91 a PO installed an earlier steering column, not sure why. I recently found a steering column from a 90 w/ 305/700r4. Our 91 also had the 700r4 swapped for a T5 several owners ago. I want to put the 90 steering column in our 91 but have a question about what I assume is the neutral/park switch cable that went to the auto shifter, what can I do about it? The clutch safety switch is hooked up. Thanks,
Jim

that cable is only there to lock the automatic shifter in park if the key is off and not allow the key to go to off unless the shifter is in park... i just took that cable out and wedged the piece on the column in the proper direction that it wouldn't ever affect anything.. been like that for almost 5 years without a single problem..

Thanks. I didn't even think about that aspect. Damn automatics need too much crap.

Wire cutters made mine disappear. I didn't see the need to keep it since once you go from an auto to a T5, you don't go back, only forward to a T56 or a TKO.

Re: T5, 700R4 and steering columns
Well I'm seriously considering making this swap. Just to be clear there is no need to change steering columns. I can cu/remove the cable, and set/wedge the piece in the column in the open position.
