T-56 Auto or manual harness?

Well squirrels got to my engine harness in my 91 camaro. It was an auto car but has a t-56 and the original auto harness. I have my eye on a cheap Manual harness but wondering if this is the correct way to go and what I would have to change/do for the manual harness to work with the T-56. I don't plan and going back to auto so the extra crap with the auto doesn't seem to make sense to have if I decide/need to replace the screwed harness with another auto. It just makes more sense to have the manual harness in a "now" manual car.

I will say that the reverse lockout was never hooked up since I purchased the car with the swap already done. I purchased the pigtail but never put it in. Not that it really matters much. I know it has the Dakota Digital box under the center console for the speedo.

Re: T-56 Auto or manual harness?

A manual harness would be for a T-5, not a T-56, and wouldn't have reverse lockout or skip shift pigtails anyway. With either harness you'll probably have to modify it to work with the T56 speed sensor.
Manual harness would have pigtails for clutch safety switch instead of neutral safety & reverse light pigtail would be under the car instead of inside, and wouldn't have the one 4-wire connector for the trans, but other than that I don't believe they are radically different.

Most of this ^^^^ doesn't really apply, unless you're changing the engine harness AND the dash harness. The different neutral safety switch, and shifter harness etc, T5 vs 700R4, would be in the dash harness. As far as the engine harness goes, auto would have the transmission plug for the 700R4, and the T5 harness would have a reverse light plug. Otherwise the harnesses are pretty much the same.

Well car factory is an auto but has the t-56. Looking to possibly pick up a manual engine harness for pretty cheap. Which is why I was asking what would be different with using a manual harness on an auto car that has a t-56
