2001 Driveshaft into 1982 Camaro - Will it fit?

I'm gathering parts for a conversion. 700r4 or T56 into my 1982 Camaro Z. Right now it has a T350 tranny. I found a driveshaft from a 2001 Camaro that had a stick (sold ugh) but was wondering are the driveshafts same length for 4th gen and 3rd gen if converting same tranny? If I grab this will it work for either conversion?
Thank you.

Yes.

Just be sure it isn't one of the ones with the cardboard (LITERALLY) stuffing inside of it, instead of any real balancing or damping.

Thanks Sofa. Any way I can tell by pics? Or is there a code I need to look/ask for?

If it's aluminum from a 2001 F-body, it's cardboard damped.
The yoke will have a damper built in, which makes the shaft itself, shorter.
Not worth good money, but not a bad piece to put in your car for while.

Picked up a 1LE Aluminum driveshaft. Gonna replace the u joints. Do I need a conversion u joint or any stock replacement will work? Rear is a GM 10 bolt.

Also, can I use the U Joint straps I have now, or do I need to get new straps for the aluminum shaft? The u joints caps are close in size, 1/8 and 1/16, but don't want the u joints to slip out.

Thank you.

If the u-joints in it don't fit the 10-bolt pinion yoke, you need a conversion joint in back.

Once you have that, stock straps will work.

If you don't know what sizes you have, go through this and measure to identify yours: http://www.driveshaftspecialist.com/... ID Guide.html You will more than likely have either 1310 or 3R (S44 GM type) joints.
